Re: Remus Lupin | Harry Potter | No Reserve

Welcome to The Fleet.

The Orakalla has pulled your character from their universe into this one. Your character will show up stripped of all their worldly possessions at the base of the Orakalla in the Sacred Keep of the Temple ship. There is no need to panic; someone will be there to help your character.

Before you can post your introductions, you need to do the following things:

1. Subscribe to the mod journal ([personal profile] thefleet_mods) with your character's journal. Subscribe and request memebership to the game comms (yes, all of them) with your character's journal: the Network Comm, the Log Comm, the OOC Comm, the AC Comm, and the Meme Comm.

Once you have been granted access to the Mod Journal, you must do the following before your character's journal will be accepted into the comms:

2. Player Contact Page - Fill out the form labeled: New Player Form

3. Taken Characters Page - Fill out the form shown here: New Character Instructions

4. Once you have completed and posted those forms on their coresponding pages, your character's journal will be accepted into the game comms. We encourage you to post an introduction on the OOC Community once your journal is added. (Making an OOC intro post for you and your character will earn you character/player points, so again, we encourage you to make one.)

5. Feel free to friend or become a fan of the game plurk: [plurk.com profile] thefleetmods

NOTE: New characters will arrive in the Sacred Keep on May 10th, but not before that day. Please do not start playing in the IC communities until the 10th, when the New Arrivals Group Log will be opened for players to tag into. Once it is open, you are welcome to thread your character's first moments in the game there, ask questions of the NPCs present, and thereafter, you are free to play in the IC communities of the game.

Special Notes pertaining to your character: There will be Meta Plot for the month of May posted to the OOC comm very soon, keep an eye open for that, your character will be allowed to participate. But you must sign up for the meta plot HERE

ALSO, Remus's meta powers will be zeroed upon arrival. Given their breadth and complexity, they will be considered 'Complex Powers'. They can be regained through the Complex Power Regain option. Or you are welcome to toss your character into a different set of powers, if you so choose.

In addition to this, his Lycanthropy needs some discussion about what he will experience, given that the setting is a fleet of ships traveling through space. You could approach it one of two ways - where it is linked to his HP magic and won't manifest until you start giving him back his powers OR it's a medical malady akin to how JK Rowling compared it to AIDS, it would be with him the whole time and must be managed. Thoughts?

And there's also the question of what would trigger it. Where they are parked at the moment is not close to any lunar satellites. The characters are currently allowed to go to the first planet in the solar system, but it doesn't have a moon. So the question is, how would Remus' lycanthropy manifest given how it's meant to be linked to a lunar cycle? It could be that he wouldn't experience a full change unless he encountered a full moon at a certain distance - which might mean that certain settings (like a planet with five moons all in various cycles) would just be terrible for him, whereas other settings like the one the characters are in now would mean no werewolf change for the time being. In addition to this, you could say that he experiences some kind of crappy physical conditions based on the Earth's lunar cycle, where he has things like fever, nausea, joint pain, but no actual transformation given the lack of proximity to a moon.

What are your thoughts?
