Job's Listing: Overview
This page lists the every character's job. There are two main catagories of jobs:

Community Service Jobs
To enter the Owmi work force, every character must start with a Community Service Job. Though it's called "Community Service" it is still a paying job. They aren't glamorus, they are usually social mantinences like janitorial work within the characters' residential community. They are meant to remind everyone that they are part of a greater community and that they all must contribute to the welfare of their community. No one is above the lowest kinds of work, no matter what their professions may be.

Professional Jobs
While community service is necessary, it's not always fulfilling for the employee. Employment rate in Professional Jobs is high in the Owmi society - most Owmi seek out employment that fullfills them.

Jobs are not a mandatory requirement for the characters - this is all voluntary. But if you are interested in having your character find a job while aboard the Owmi Fleet, please read the information on this page to find out how to get them a job.

The best way to navigate this page is to use 'ctrl+f' then enter the name you're looking for.

Community Service

All characters must start their careers in the Owmi Fleet with a Community Service position, as no one arrives in the Fleet with a verifiable work history.

There are five areas of Community Service within the character's Residential Community: Community Maintenance work, Community Janitorial work, Community Kitchen and Cafeteria work, Community IT support, and Community Equipment Mangement. All managerial and supervisory positions are filled by the Owmi. More areas may be added as the game grows.

Pay/Compensation:
Pay compensation for Community Service Jobs is 15 Oweos per hour, which is about equivelant to $15 per hour in USA dollars. Owmi call their money 'Oweos', which roughly translates as 'credits'. Bank accounts will be set up (handwaved) for characters who work, and characters will have access to their money via the comm devices. They will also pay for things bought on the station with their comm devices.

Where:
All community service jobs will take place within the character's Residential Community, and will not extend into the great parts of the station.

Hours:
Each Community Service job is a minimum of 12 hours a week. But characters can work more than the minimum, of they so choose.

Age restrictions:
Community Service positions are open to characters 16 years or older (or to those considered 'adults' by their canon's standards).

Training:
All characters will be given on the job training to perform their jobs.

Professional Job upgrades:
Once a character has been at their community service job for one full AC period , they can find a Professional Job that is more suited to their particular skill set in addition to maintaining their Community Service hours on the ships that they have access to. Yes, they will have to keep their Community Service job.

Obtaining a Community Service position:
Characters need only to ask their Community Representative Ipsee Awon (this can be handwaved - ze would provide all the information on the four types of positions available.)

However, there is an OOC process. If you would like your character to have Community Service work, fill out the form below in this COMMENT, and post it to that comment.

Just a reminder again, characters are not required to work if they do not want to, so working is non-mandatory. However, if they want spending money or to be able to find a Professional Job, characters must start with a Community Service position.

Professional Jobs Positions

While community service is necessary, it's not always fulfilling for the employee. Employment rate in Professional Jobs is high in the Owmi society - most Owmi seek out employment that fullfills them outside of their 12 hour Community Service obligations. The rest of the week they usually spent working their Professional Job.

Once a character has maintained a Community Service position for one full AC period, they can go out and find their own Professional Job. They can seek to find that dream job that they want to do rather than just a job they have to do. Does your character want be a mechanic, or a peace officer, or an artist?

Where:
Character will only be able to find Professional Jobs positions on the ships they currently have access to.

Pay/Compensation:
Pay compensation for Professional Jobs is competative and reasonably matches what an individual would make doing the same Profession on Earth. The Mod is going to assume every player understands how to reasonably assess how much their character should be making at their Professional Job and will only step in if they notice someone not sticking to reasonable parameters. (Hint - no one is going to be millionaires/billionaires. Be reasonable.)

As with their Community Service position, their pay checks are deposited directly into their bank accounts. And the funds are accessable via their comm devices.

Requirements:
1. Just like the Owmi, the characters will still have to maintain their Community Service positions in order to have a Professional Job.

2. Characters will need to possess an understanding and proficency for the job they want. For that reason there is an OOC form to fill out below. Fill out the form below in this COMMENT, and post it to that comment. Yes, this form is something like an application.

3. Be reasonable, and logical about your character's activity. The mod is not going to police this, but just like with any employment on earth, you need to show up and do your job well and not be an ass.

Banned Professional Jobs:
Characters cannot currently gain employment in the Owmi Government (political positions) or the Owmi Military.

Just a reminder again, characters are not required to work if they do not want to, so working is non-mandatory.
