Here. Here. They are coming

~ * ~

The Owmi, a spacefaring, nomadic civilization, have been traveling the stars for over a thousand years. They have been searching for the remnants of their lost people, the Ibere. When their ancient society fractured long ago, the Orakalla gave the Owmi a prophecy that said that the Owmi would "find them." So far, the Owmi have been unsuccessful. But under the divine direction of their Orakalla, they press on searching the vast expanses between the stars.

Recently, however, the younger generations have started to lose faith and question the purpose of their travels. They point to the silence of the Orakalla, whose influence and guidance has been passive since it spoke its last prophecy –- the very one that started the Owmi on this seemingly never ending quest. And they point to the lack of finding even a trace of the Ibere.

To address this unrest and rebuild their stores, the Owmi stopped at an unpopulated system. Then the unexpected happened.

The moment they reverted to real-space the Orakalla flared to life as it had not done in over a thousand years. Its light shining blindingly and painful, it spoke, its words echoing in the hearts of every Owmi, "Here. Here. Here. Here-" over and over. Until, following a pause, it pronounced, "They are coming." After this, the Orakalla fell silent once again, its light dimming to something more easy to look at.

This caused quite the stir among the Owmi. Clearly this meant they were about to be reunited with the people they’d been searching for.

However, that is not what happened.

While they were looking at their ships’ instruments and through their viewports for any sign of the Ibere, the arrival of the prophesied “them” was taking place in the heart of the sacred keep, home of the Orakalla. It took a moment for the news to travel from the sacred keep to all the other vessels of the fleet.

And the news was this: there were strange people appearing as if out of nowhere in the sacred keep of the Orakalla. Strange people who were clearly not Ibere, strange people from another world, or galaxy, or perhapes a different universe altogether…

You arrive weak and stripped naked of the unnecessary dressings of your previous life, cold and disoriented in a large, shadowy, blue-green-lit chamber that seems to be carved from marble stone. An orb of indiscernible, white light shimmering through hues of blue and green hangs in the air above you in the very center of the room. And even though looking directly at it for too long hurts all your senses, it provides poor illumination for the rest of the room.

Your chest hurts, between and just above your breasts. When you look down, you find some kind of crystal has been imbedded into your skin, it seems fixed down to the bone. No matter what you try, you cannot rid your body of the gem; it is now part of you. If you dig at it, eventually the pain of trying to tear it free will stop you.

What has happened? Where are you? Who has done this to you? Why? These questions cross your mind, but you don’t panic. Instead, you feel exhausted, unable to rage against what has happened to you.

But someone will be by your side shortly to give you something to cover yourself. You don't react to all the ways that shows they are not human. And someone is at the head of the room, making an announcement to everyone. You hear them clearly: You have arrived in the Sacred Keep of the Owmi’s fleet, and this is your new home…

Orakallace

Orakallace is a pan-fandom RPG open to Canon, OC, and (some) AU characters from most fandoms. It takes place in space where the setting is mostly an expansive space station and it's accompanying military guard, with the fleet often stopping at new locations. It will incorporate jam-jar and slice-of-life elements, various game plots, with a non-mandatory metaplot that will involve mystery, intrigue, and maybe even space battles.
