THE ORAKALLAS

✦ ORAKALLAS ✦

Here. Here. They are coming.
... We have trained them to think of the Future as a promised land which favored heroes attain ...
✦ What are Orakallas?

The Orakallas are pan-dimensional beings. They live across multiple dimensions, though the extent of the types and number of dimensions are unknown. The Owmi (and previously the Ibere) have theories about this, though they don’t know much more than the basics: that the Orakalla’s are pan-dimensional beings.

For the most part Orakalla’s are difficult to study beyond simple observation – other beings and instruments cannot get close enough to the Orakallas to properly.

✦ What do they look like? What is their Physiology?

What is seen of Orakallas in this dimension is really just a reflections of what they actually are (in other dimensions they appear far different than how they appear in this dimension).

They appear as vertically elliptical spheroid objects made of light. They are about two meters in height and under a meter in width. The Orakallas are surrounded by an impermeable field of energy that repeals outside intrusion. The closer one approaches, the more the energy repulses that person until they cannot approach any further, everyone (without known or recorded exception) is stopped at no closer than two meters from the Orakallas.

Though different Orakallas reflect different color light on surfaces, the center of each being appears to be white. The Owm Orakalla reflects a blue-green light. Sometimes the light pulsates. But the light never goes out – or, at least, the Owmi people do not know of an instance when an Orakalla’s light goes out.

Though looking directly at the light can be painful to the senses, the Orakalla do not overtly harm those in its presence. And there is no known instance of an Orakalla directly harming anyone.

Each Orakalla seems to be alligned with one elemental force. This is not generally something someone can see from looking at the Orakalla, but it is something someone with a gara associated with a particular Orakalla can learn about said Orakalla by cultivating powers and abilities bestowed by the Orakalla. Each Orakalla's elemental force is weak against one other Orakalla's elemental force.

✦ How many Orakallas are there?

The Owmi follow, and house, the Owm Orakalla. ETA as of the May 2016 Meta Plot: And they also house in their Sacred Keep a broken shard of a mysterious other Orakalla that the characters found on the planet Baj E'oku Prime. /edit

Each sect of the Ibere possessed a different Orakalla. The Viire had the Vii Orakalla. The Leayi had the Lea Orakalla. The Afee had the Afe Orakalla. The Owmi, however, do not know where these Orakallas are right now, they are as lost as the other sects of the Ibere people.

Yes, this means there are more Orakallas in this universe than the Orakalla in the Sacred Keep of the Owmi Fleet. And yes, there could be more than even the four the Ibere once possessed, scattered throughout the galaxy. But for right now, the Owmi people know the location of only one Orakalla, their own.

✦ What do the Orakallas do?

Though the Ibere have studied the Orakalla for many millennia, they currently understand very little about the Orakallas. Their physiology, material make-up, histories – all of these subjects about the Orakalla are unknown to the present day Owmi. But some things are known, or believed to be known.

They Exist
For the most part it seems as if the Orakalla just hangs around doing little more than be shiny, floating orbs. They are there, and that is the best that the Owmi can truly say about them. However, unknown to anyone in this universe, Orakallas lead interesting and exciting lives in other dimensions. It is known that for the most part, the Orakallas do not often directly interfere with the lives of the Owmi. And when they do affect the lives of the Owmi, it's usually in indirect ways.

Abilities and Powers
The Orakalla’s have powers of their own, though the full extent of their powers is unknown.

Minor Protection - The Orakalla are believed to have protective capabilities, ensuring those connected to them prosperity and general luck over time. Most Owmi believe this a power of the Orakallas (very few Owmi do not believe this). However, the only proof the Owmi have for this is their long prosperity.

Prescience - Generally, Owmi believe the Orakallas have clairvoyant abilities (to what degree depends on the what the individual Owmi beleives) and legend says they give prophecies to those who have gara. When Orakallas speak, it seems that only those with gara can ‘hear’ them. This power is actually a disputed ability of the Orakallas. The current High Priest has said in the past that he is doubtful the Orakallas have this ability, and says that while there are two recorded instances of the Orakallas speaking directly with the Owmi within the last thousand years, they weren’t exactly ‘prophetic’.

However, many individual Owmi believe the Orakalla has personally guided them in their lives and helped them achieve success, and they would consider that a form of precognition. It should be noted, though, this a belief borne from only a feeling of being guided, rather than founded in clear, spoken direction.

It is true that the Owmi Orakalla has spoken only twice in the last thousand years. While there are legends that Orakallas use to speak more, there is nothing in the unrestricted section of the grand library to support this. There are, however, a growing number of Owmi who believe information about the Orakallas have been edited for the masses.

Orakallas also grant powers to individuals who possess garas (those gems stuck in people's chests.)

Meta powers - They grant extra abilities and empathic powers to their followers with garas affiliated with a given Orakalla. Such powers must be cultivated to be accessed. Otherwise an individual follower of an Orakalla will only have latent abilities, and will not spontaneously be able to use those abilities. Without continuous training, an individual, though in possession of a Gara, will have no meta power abilities.

This is a proven power of the Orakallas. Many Owmi have devoted their lives to cultivating these extra abilities granted to them by the Orakallas. However, the majority of Owmi do not devote the required time necessary to cultivate more than the very basic abilities.

(We talk more about this down below.)

There have been a few recently discovered powers of the Orakalla.

Pull in the Characters - A new but odd power an Orakalla is exhibiting now is pulling sentient beings (the characters) into this universe and keeping them within a certain distance (the space of a large solar system) of the Orakalla. The Owmi are very baffled by this new power.

Strange Activity - Since the characters' arrival, the Orakalla has been acting strange. It has been affecting the characters and the Owmi fleet in strange ways. Altering peoples' ages, making people blurt out the truth. These strange occurences are baffling to everyone.

✦ What are these meta powers?

The Orakallas grant special abilities to those individuals who take the time to cultivate said powers. Individuals must be in possession of a gara, and for certain abilities, they need to possess the right kind of gara. There are three main areas of powers.

Heightened Senses:
Details: An individual can train to improve their senses beyond average. With training, sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch will all be far sharper and more detailed than before. In addition to this, with training, individuals can gain a precognition sense, this ability won't come with detailed visions - in fact visions will not be had at all. But it is more like being able to tell something is wrong (or right) about a situation or a choice. Like the 'Spidey Sense' or the Jedi 'I have a bad feeling about this'.

Prerequisite: Any individual possessing a gara can develop these abilities with training. They need not possess a gara specific to any Orakalla.

Psionic Powers:
Details: These are various mental abilities, empathic abilities, telepathy, mental defences, and mental offensive abilities. In other parts of the game pages, these are refered to as 'General Orakalla Powers'. They are different from the Orakalla-Specific Elemental Powers (which are discussed below).

Prerequisite: Any individual possessing a gara can develop these abilities with training. They do not need to possess a gara specific to any Orakalla, just a gara (which all characters in the game will have). So every character in the game can participate with this game mechanic.

Communication with Orakallas:
Details: This is a result of cultivating the psionic powers mentioned above. With training, characters can learn how to talk with the Orakallas and receive answers from them. Sometimes the answers can border on prophetic. Sometimes the answers might seem meaningless. These are pan-dimensional beings, after all.

Prerequisite: Any individual possessing a gara can develop these abilities with training. They do not need to possess a gara specific to any Orakalla. But characters will need to at least gain level 1 of both General Orakalla Powers: Empathy and Telepathy (these are the psionic powers mentioned above). As they level up in the General Orakalla Powers, the more detailed and specific the answers they will receive.

Elemental Powers:
Details: Each Orakalla seems to be aligned with one elemental force: water, fire, air, earth. With training, an individual can learn to use powers associated with an Orakalla's specific element.

Prerequisite: These are the powers that are more exclusive. An individual must possess a gara affiliated with the Orakalla and elemental power they wish to learn.(Currently, only Owm and Afe specific powers are available to the characters.)

✦ So my character could learn to use these powers?

It's possible!

If your character is interested in learning these powers, they can certainly do so. For the heightened senses and the psionic powers and the abilities to communicate with the Orakallas, all a character needs is time and a willingness to dedicate themselves to the training required.

For the Owm Elemental powers, they will need to have at least one Gara that is affiliated with the Owm Orakalla. ETA as of the May 2016 Meta Plot: Afe powers are now also open to the characters who possess Afe gara. /edit. If your character does not have an Owm gara or an Afe gara, do not despair, without giving away too much of events to come, just know that your character will not be left out.

In terms of Game Play, gaining these powers is linked to the the Point System, to 'level up' a player must spend points that are earned through activity. Players who wish to learn more about how their character can learn to use these powers should go HERE.

✦ Anything else?

Perhaps. There might be more to reveal about the Orakallas as the game progresses. You'll have to wait and see.
